edgardo bayani: The lines that you see are edges of strips of wood that I carve out all the blacks and the lines that you see are the shaped wood that i carve out one by one. there are about 120 pieces to make one photo. after carving them, I glue them on a piece of marine plywood in sequence and with a space between them about 1/8". the space between the wood creates the tone. the size of each piece of wood is 3/8" X 2" X 30". I carve the 3/8" side. The thinner the wood, the darker the tone. Thankk you for commenting.

edgardo bayani: VZ, Thank you for your comment. Yes it is very labor intensive. It takes me about three weeks of daily 8 hour work to finish one 3x40 piece but it gives me pleasure doing it. Yes, cello is a very sensual instrument visually and in sound.
